In July 2006, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters opened our coffee bar and roastery at 5627 La Jolla Blvd. in La Jolla, California. When we opened across the street from a Starbucks, people were initially confused about why a small independent coffee roaster would want to take on such a giant in the industry. However, it soon became apparent to many that we were offering something completely different from what was available before we arrived.
